Medical assessment
If the visa you apply for allows you to remain in Australia for 12 months or more, a medical assessment will be required.
The applicant and his/her family members need to be reasonably healthy to have Australian visa, especially permanent, granted. For permanent Australian visas all your immediate family members (spouse and children under 18) need to undertake a health check even if not included in your visa application.
The medical assessment for visa purposes can be undertaken in accredited medical centers only. Your mifgration agent will give you detailed information once required. In most cases, health assessment includes blood test, general health check and X-ray. Only applicants with active form of TB and HIV have no chances of success with their visa applications. In any other case your medical condition will be assessed individually and medical advice given to your visa officer at the Department.
